Scarborough Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Sam Drury has been appointed 1st XI Captain with immediate effect. Sam has played all his cricket to date at Driffield Town CC, and comes from a very well respected ‘cricket family’. Besides his role as 1st team skipper, Sam is also keen to be involved in other areas of the club, especially where he can make full use of his coaching qualification.

Club Chairman Paul Harrand said ‘’ I’m really pleased that Sam has come on board. He’s very keen to become involved and become part of the team that continues to move the club forward. He wants to help in other sections of the club – especially in junior cricket. I’d like to thank Neil Elvidge for his sterling work, especially this season. Neil has worked very hard, especially with the challenges of player availability. Everyone at the club is grateful to Neil, and his efforts cannot be understated. We’re also grateful to Brad Scott, who has captained the side in recent weeks, and wish him well for the future back home in Australia’’.

Sam Drury said of his appointment, ‘’I’m really looking forward to a new challenge at North Marine Road. Scarborough is a wonderful club, and I’m keen to become involved and help the club to keep moving forward’’.

Mark Cook, who took over the 2nd team captaincy mid-way through the season has agreed to take over the role on a permanent basis. ‘’It’s good to take on the role officially. In particular I’m looking to improve on our league position, and I’m looking forward to working with Sam’’.
