It is with great sadness that Scarborough CC has learned that Dave Callaghan has passed away. Considered by many as the voice of Yorkshire Cricket, Dave was taken ill on Friday evening and sadly passed on Monday night. Dave was a much-loved personality at North Marine Road and held in the highest regard by everybody. Dave’s passion for Yorkshire cricket was unparalleled and his commentary will forever be associated with some of the greatest moments in our modern history. Scarborough Cricket Club are saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Lawrence Byford, a former club President. Sir Lawrence ‘Lawry’ Byford passed away yesterday at his home near Harrogate, aged 92 He was a miners son from Normanton who was called up into the Royal Signals in World War Two before joining West Riding Constabulary in 1947, where he rose up through the ranks becoming a Divisional Commander. In 1973 he was appointed  Chief Constable of the Lincolnshire Constabulary.
