YORKSHIRE II V NOTTINGHAMSHIRE II

Yorkshire II host Nottinghamshire II at North Marine Road in a three day match starting on Monday 23 April, followed by 50 over match against the same opposition on Thursday 26 April. Both matches start at 11am and are free entry. The bar in the Pavilion, and the Tea Room will be open for drinks and refreshments. All are welcome.

Scarborough Cricket Club members voted overwhelmingly at the Annual General Meeting on Monday 26th March to back proposals submitted by the club’s management committee. Most of the proposals revolve around the way that club is managed, with arguably the biggest change being the creation of a six person elected management board replacing the current management committee. The new board will have the authority to appoint non-executive members who will not have voting rights. These will typically be professional people brought on board to advise in specialist areas. It is with great sadness that Scarborough CC has learned that Dave Callaghan has passed away. Considered by many as the voice of Yorkshire Cricket, Dave was taken ill on Friday evening and sadly passed on Monday night. Dave was a much-loved personality at North Marine Road and held in the highest regard by everybody. Dave’s passion for Yorkshire cricket was unparalleled and his commentary will forever be associated with some of the greatest moments in our modern history. Scarborough Cricket Club are saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Lawrence Byford, a former club President. Sir Lawrence ‘Lawry’ Byford passed away yesterday at his home near Harrogate, aged 92 He was a miners son from Normanton who was called up into the Royal Signals in World War Two before joining West Riding Constabulary in 1947, where he rose up through the ranks becoming a Divisional Commander. In 1973 he was appointed  Chief Constable of the Lincolnshire Constabulary. He later became an Inspector of Constabulary, before becoming the Chief Inspector of Constabulary in 1983, the year that he…
